Superman is Leaving the Country

I heard the most unwelcome news this weekend. Caitlin’s neurosurgeon is moving back to Canada. We haven’t “needed” him for 10 years, but knowing he was there always made me feel better. This is a huge loss for many, many Utah families who have had their lives turned upside down, but have then been treated by the very talented Dr. John Kestle.

Hi

Thanks for your note. When you are in the oncology clinic on the 28th, ask the staff there to call me and I'll run up and say hi

J Kestle

What are the right words to say goodbye to someone who saved your baby?

I have thought about this question all day. There aren't any words that can express the depth of that gratitude. A simple "thank you" and "we love you" might have to do.

Anything but gushing and tears. LOL Seriously, I need to get it together before the 28th.

If there is some gushing and tears, I think he would understand.

There's a strange kind of dependency I have with our medical team. Like I really can't fathom how they can leave us before we leave them. As Dr. K has seen me at my VERY worst and VERY happiest, I think I will treat him to my most normal, most calm version of myself. Now to figure out how to manage that....
