Most people don’t like to be reminded of snow in April, but at our house, we love snowballs (or at least what they represent). As we work on our “debt snowball” we get really excited to see debt disappear and even more excited to have more money to put towards the next debt on the list.
Today our snowball totally wiped out our medical debt!
This is the most emotional debt we’ve paid off so far because we lived for so many years believing we would never catch up or get ahead of paying for Caitlin’s treatment. There were times when Clint and I would look at the statements coming in and gasp. Then we would shove the bill back into the envelop, pretending somehow the reality of what we owed would disappear if we couldn’t see it. FYI- that doesn’t work. Instead of bills in the mail, you get phone calls. Not fun!
After nine years and three months (I’ll spare you the weeks, days, and hours), we are paid in full and we may be the only customers at our credit union with a savings account for a MRI.
So our family would like to say a final goodbye to ARC, PCMC, IHC, Radiology, University Medical Billing, and RCS.
In early March I wrote about all the overtime I had worked and how I had intended to buy this-
But instead, I put the money towards our debt. Well, last week the mailman stopped by and delivered an unexpected package. My Grandma and Aunt had read my blog post and decided they would spoil me. I cannot wait to get this beautiful artwork framed and hanging in our home. Thank you Grandma and Jerrie for your very thoughtful gift. We will cherish it always.

There is always light at the end of the tunnel, sometimes we actually get to be out of the tunnel in the sunshine. Families are great!
That is such a great testiment of keeping at it! I am so proud of you. The picture is beautiful and I am glad you get to have it. You will always be reminded of your sacrifice and the love of others. Good job to your whole family!
Absolutely inspiring! Keep telling me that it is possible. Love the snowball picture! I can't believe that you got the painting anyway. I will have to come see it when you get it hung.
Okay... I think I'm in your ward. I have gotten confused since the split... anyhow, as I'm short selling my home, it's good to read that things can get better and one day (long or short) it will be good. Congratulations. It is such a great feeling to paying off something.
I was wondering where that painting is from. I can't see it online and I'm thinking I may want to get one before I move away (or not?? - maybe pay a few bills myself). Anyhow, you can e-mail me at cernyca@msn.com if you don't post it on your blog. Thanks!!
That's sweet of your family. Congrats!
What a sweet surprise! It is such a beautiful picture-you have great taste. Hearing how you are paying off debt one step at a time keeps me focused. Keep it up! XOXOXO
Way to go Jamie! That picture is beautiful, I'm sure you will always treasure it!
Families are great!
